Read more about the club's ethos…At the 2018/19 season awards evening, the U15 boys celebrated nine of the squad receiving their 'ten year awards'. It's a great reflection of the Club's football ethos that such a high proportion of the squad who joined at U6s have now completed their tenth season with Norristhorpe Juniors. Pictured with their awards are from left to right: Fred Taylor, Archie McDermott, Owen Gilbert, Kenz Chedzgoy, Dec Samme, Matty Clark, Ty Chatterton and Fred Whitaker. Elliot Cooper (not in attendance) also received the award.
The Under 15 girls squad notched up a tremendous achievement this season by winning both the West Riding Girls' Football League U15 Division 2 title, in addition to the U15 League Shield to complete a milestone double-winning season for the girls.
Even though they were playing against teams a year older in the West Riding Girls U16 Junior Trophy, they also managed a great run to the quarter finals of that competition too.
Congratulations to all the players and coaching staff, and good luck for the season ahead in Division 1!
A fantastic season for Norristhorpe U14 boys ended with both teams completing a clean sweep of their respective divisions for the age group. The Bulls were crowned winners of Division 2 in the Huddersfield & District Macron Junior Football League.
The Rhinos mirrored the achievement of their fellow squad-mates by winning Division 7 of the league. Congratulations to all the boys for an outstanding effort as you look ahead to your U15 season.
Norristhorpe U13 Girls have won Division 2 of the West Riding Girls Football League. The final league table makes impressive reading: Played 16, Won 13, Draws 1, Lost 2. The girls came out just on top after a closely-contested season, battling to the end and winning the title by just 2 points from Wigton Moor Foxes in the runners-up spot. Congratulations to the girls on their fantastic achievement! Ahead of the new season in Division 1, the small squad are looking to add new players to help in the transition from the 9v9 to 11v11 format at U14.
On Saturday 29th June, we held our second girls' football gala at our home of Warrenside Sports Complex. Teams from 19 different clubs took part, and on behalf of the club we would like to thank them all for supporting our club gala.
The total number of 33 teams consisted of almost 300 girls across five age groups (U8, U9, U10, U11 & U15), split into morning and afternoon sessions.
Once again, we had great weather and all the girls did well to put on such an excellent display of football.
I’m sure the food, drinks and ice creams provided by a small army of kind helpers, kept them re-fuelled in the hot sunshine.
Again, a big thanks to those that gave up their time before, during and afterwards to help make the day a success.
At our club meeting this evening, two long-serving stalwarts of the club received engraved glass tankards and the grateful thanks of everyone present in recognition of their outstanding contributions of voluntary service to the club. Phil Alford and Simon Walker both put away their tactics boards, bibs and cones for the last time at the conclusion of their under-18 season earlier this year. Simon dedicated 14 years to coaching his boys' team, with Phil not far behind notching up 10 years on the sideline with his team of girls, in addition to a stint as club chairman. The experience and dedication of both men will be sorely missed around the club and we would like to wish them both well for the future.
Norristhorpe U15 Team Black wore poppies on their shirts during the match against Hall Green United today, in remembrance of those who have fallen on the battlefield in service to our country over the past 100 years since the signing of the armistice to end the First World War on the 11th November 1918.
Norristhorpe U13 'A' team are HDJFL Division 2 Champions! A great performance from the team on 23 April which confirms them as Div 2 champions. The coaches are very proud of the team who have worked really hard to sustain their performances throughout the season and have now got the reward for their consistency. A huge thanks to parents for their continued support, in particular to Craig and family for running the refreshments and raffle.
Norristhorpe Junior FC Under 14 Boys' team proudly completed season 2016/17 as champions of Division 4B of the Huddersfield Junior Football League. With 41 points from their 18 games and only 3 defeats all season, the U14s claimed the title on the final day of the season with a 6–3 win over Wyke. All the players, in a large squad, have played their part during the course of the season and their success is due in part to their team spirit and continued development.
The U13 boys are delighted to announce that ADAMCO Construction - the Norristhorpe based construction company - has sponsored the purchase of rain jackets for the squad. Many thanks to Adam Cook for his generous support, it's greatly appreciated.
Seven of the Norristhorpe Juniors U13 boys were part of the squad who represented Spen Valley Schools District U13s in their recent match against East Riding Schools. Great for development to be playing district football.
In line with our club ethos of putting continued player development at the forefront of everything we do, the club is excited to announce a new partnership with Tecnica Football Education. Now a highly-regarded coach in his own right, Jak Oldroyd is a former Norristhorpe Junior FC player and has decided, along with his business partner Dale Holt, to make this link with the club to help inspire and educate many more future Norristhorpe Junior players. Tecnica's sessions are always enthusiastically attended by our players and are met with universal praise from players and parents alike. Check out their website for more details and to book a session for your children to try the Tecnica experience first hand!
After a few months of behind-the-scenes work our new club website has finally launched! It's thanks to the combined efforts of all the coaches, volunteers and (of course) the kids that we have some great photos of our teams doing what they love best – playing football. Over the coming weeks and months we will be adding content and features to the site, so make sure to check back regularly to see what's going on in your teams. Many of the age groups have their own Facebook and Twitter pages, so be sure to connect with them to stay right up to date with match reports, upcoming fixtures and great photos. There are also photos and details of all our FA qualified coaches alongside the group photos and player shots. If you'd like to get in touch please use the contact form to send us a message
