Bumblebees

Introducing Bumblebees – our brand-new football programme for Reception and Year 1 children.

At Norristhorpe Junior Football Club, we’re proud to launch this exciting new early-years initiative, giving young players the perfect introduction to football in a fun, safe and welcoming environment.

With fun and learning at the heart of every session, the Bumblebees are the first step in a lifelong love for the game — and a natural entry point into the wider Norristhorpe JFC family.

Learn. Play. Grow.

Bumblebees sessions are fun, energetic and designed to help children grow. Through creative games and guidance from FA-qualified coaches, kids build coordination, confidence and early football skills — all in a supportive, play-based environment.

Our sessions help children learn far more than how to kick a ball. They learn how to listen, share, work as a team and develop resilience through structured play.

What You Can Expect

Saturday Morning 3v3 Matches

As part of your Bumblebees subscription, your child will also be invited to join our Saturday morning 3v3 mini-matches. This format is part of new FA guidelines being introduced for all grassroots under-7s — encouraging more touches, faster decisions and more fun. It’s football stripped back to its simplest form: small teams, quick games, and lots of chances to shine. It’s a great way for children to apply what they’ve learned in Tuesday sessions in a real (but relaxed) match environment — all while building friendships and confidence.

Safety First, Always

We know that handing your child over to someone new is a big deal. That’s why safety is always our top priority. You can rest easy knowing that our team is trained, certified, and committed to creating a safe, caring space for every child.

All our coaches are:

We follow all FA best practice guidance and ensure a child-first approach in everything we do.

A Pathway into Grassroots Football

These sessions are just the beginning. As your child grows in confidence and ability, they’ll have the opportunity to move into one of our established grassroots teams — progressing through age groups with a club that cares about development, community and fun.

Whether they go on to play every weekend or simply grow up loving sport, we want to be the club that starts their journey the right way.
